Do You Offer Tastings & When May I Come For One?

We do offer tasting/design appointments to clients based on our availability for your event date. If we are able to make a cake for you then we will schedule an appointment to discuss all of the details of your event. Our bakery is open by appointment only; Due to the busy schedules of our clients and the time constraints and deadlines we face, most appointments are made during business hours, Tuesdays through Thursdays. On Fridays and Saturdays we are usually busy finishing and delivering the cakes. We try to accommodate everyone, so please contact us and we will make every effort to work within your schedule. Our bakery is open by appointment only; we do not have any cakes pre-made for sale. Every cake we make is custom made to order from start to finish.

I Want To Order A Cake and Set-Up The Tasting/Design Appointment & How does the whole process work?

The cake making process starts with you requesting a price quote. Simply click on Order a Cake and arrive at the Inquiry Request page. Fill out as many of the fields as possible with your event details and creative cake vision. Important information needed is:

• The date of your event.

• The occasion/nature of your event. (wedding, bat mitzvah, etc)

• The event location, delivery address, and delivery time.

• How many people you will need to serve.

• Your daytime phone number.

• Your email address.

• Three flavors from our flavor list you would like to sample.

• An idea of what kind of cake design you are looking for.

The more info you can provide, the better we can price your cake! We will contact you within two business days with an estimate and to discuss your order.

Once you have indicated you want to move forward with the order, we set-up a Design/Tasting Appointment and send you a contract and payment form.

There is a non-refundable $60.00 Fee required for Design/Tasting Appointments, payable by credit card at time of appointment set-up. If the order is placed within 5 business days the $60.00 Tasting Fee is applied toward the order and the final cost of your cake.

Design/Tasting appointments are held for most, but not all, cake orders. This meeting is an opportunity for you to sit down with a decorator, design the cake and have lots of fun! During your design appointment, we will provide you with a cake sketch, final contract/pricing for the order, and a taster box of three cake samples.

Your appointment should take about 45 minutes. Be sure to bring any visual references (pictures, objects, swatches, etc..) that you think will aid in the design and construction of the cake. Additionally, please come prepared with as much event info as possible, including the setup schedule, important contacts and any relevant delivery conditions.

At the end of the appointment we will sign the cake contract with you and accept the 50% deposit. Should you need additional time to decide on the cake or arrange for payment, we will gladly hold your event date on our production calendar for up to five business days. See our Payment Policy for more details. Our bakery is open by appointment only; we do not have any cakes pre-made for sale. Every cake we make is custom made to order from start to finish.

How Many People Can Come to a Wedding Cake Tasting?

We like for the Bride & Groom to attend the tasting. Our studio will accommodate up to 4 people, just keep in mind; too many opinions can be overwhelming and make your decision more challenging.

How Much Do The Cakes Cost?

Prices for a Center Ring custom designed specialty cakes vary based on artistry, complexity of design and number of servings. We don’t have a general price list because each cake is completely custom made, and a one-of-a-kind design. Cakes are priced according to several different criteria. Our base price per serving gives you a general idea of the starting price of your cake. Factors that will add to the price include cake sculpting, gumpaste flowers, modeling or other gumpaste décor, detailed piping, painting, beading, airbrushing, or other time consuming design elements such as architectural skeletal design & engineering for custom sculpted cakes. Once all these elements are finalized, the final cost of your cake is determined by the price per serving multiplied by the number of servings. All our cakes are uniquely designed by Cake Artists/Designers, Mara Mari Cristiani & Gena Cristiani. We do not duplicate the work of other cake designers.

Wedding, Stacked or Specialty Cakes

In general, the base price for wedding and tiered cakes start at $5.00 a serving for a basic round buttercream frosted cake and $7.00 per serving for a round cake, covered in Fondant. Premium frostings & fillings require an extra cost per serving. Please refer to “CAKE FLAVORS” for more detail on premium ingredient pricing. Cheesecake Wedding Cakes start at $7.00 per serving. We find that most of our clients choose designs that start at about $15.00 per serving. There is a 50 serving minimum on wedding and tiered cakes.

Custom 3D Sculpted Cakes

Pricing for custom 3D, sculptural cakes is based on the complexity of design and the number of people being served. Sculptured cakes start at $450.00.. Sculpted cakes are very labor intensive in the architectural phase, while also consuming alot of time engineering the skeletal disign.

What Is A Stacked Cake?

A stacked cake is a specialty cake that has standard shaped tiers (square, round, teardrop or oval). These cakes may have specialty toppers but the cake tiers themselves are not carved in any way.

What is a 3D Cake?

3D cakes are cakes that have been sculpted and carefully crafted by our skilled cake artists into shapes (like shoes, pillows, animals or even people), covered in buttercream and fondant and then painted or decorated with edible food colors and decorations. These could be for a birthday, baby shower, or even wedding cakes. These cakes at first sight are often mistaken for the real thing and we here “That’s a cake?!” a lot.

How much is that cake on your website and will you quote over the phone?

All of the cakes you see in our website gallery were custom designed for a specific bride or event. We cannot tell you how much a previous client paid for their cake because prices depend on many different factors. The number would be meaningless for your order. It is always better to set-up a Tasting/Design Appointment and come into our studio where we can discuss your desires. This is the easiest and most reliable way to obtain an accurate quote. We don’t provide estimates over the phone. We often find clients are unable to express their design desires or are vague when describing the type of cake they want making a phone quote inaccurate. However, we would be happy to try and work within your event budget, although keep in mind, these custom specialty cakes are labor intensive. We encourage you to contact us for a Tasting & Design Appointment so that we can discuss your event & cake order in person. This is the easiest and most accurate way to get the best cake price. We feel meeting with someone face-to-face and getting to know their ideas is the best way to plan a spectacular Center Ring Cake!

Do I have to Worry that My Naked Cake Will Be Dry, Since It Dosen't Have Any Frosting On Its Sides?

Absolutely Not! Some brides are afraid of this style because they are worried that the cake could dry out because it doesn’t have frosting. Now, All of our cakes are are very moist and to preserve that moistness we actually coat the naked cake itself with an all natural clear-drying sweet citrus glaze (which we cook from scratch) before torting and filling. This enhances the cake flavor, while keeping it moist and protects the outside edge without changing the overall appearance.

Is There Any Flexibility In Your Pricing For Sculptured Cakes?

For sculpted cakes, No we're sorry - these cakes require alot of labor hours and that is reflected in the price.

What is Fondant, & Must It Be Used On My Wedding Cake?

Fondant is a rolled icing made from sugar, gelatin and corn syrup (and in our case, we can make from scratch, white & dark chocolate). It can be painted on, or can have any color shade and natural flavoring added to it. Plus, brides love our fondant. We strive to design great looking cakes regardless of the type of finish; buttercream or fondant. Keep in mind, the fondant is not a replacement for buttercream; rather it is a final coating on top of the buttercream, enrobing your cake, keeping it fresh and moist. Many designs and techniques cannot be replicated with buttercream alone. Fondant can update an old fashioned design, and provides for a more modern look overall. It also increases stability, seals in freshness, and makes the cake easier to handle, decorate, transport and slice. It is the most heat stable of any finish, making its use near mandatory in warm/humid weather months. It can be easily removed by anyone not wishing to eat it.

Why Is Fondant More Expensive?

It takes extra training and skill to work with fondant. In addition, most wedding cake designs created in fondant take longer to complete. Since we price our wedding cakes using a time and material method, the extra time it takes to execute your design using fondant will reflect in a higher overall price.

Do I Include the Servings from a Grooms Cake?

No. The bride’s cake is your main dessert. The groom’s cake should be viewed as supplemental. Once again, there are always exceptions. But keep in mind, most guests view taking a piece of the bride’s cake and a piece of groom’s cake as acceptable and expected.

What’s your payment policy?

A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your order; the remainder is due at least two weeks prior to your event. Your order is not confirmed until we have received your signed contract and 50% non-refundable deposit. Payment can be made by cash, check or credit card (Visa, AmEx, or Mastercard, and Discover). Cake orders placed with less than two weeks notice require payment in full by credit card at the time of ordering. Deposits are non-refundable. If you cancel your order, your balance payment is refundable provided Center Ring Cakes is notified at least five (5) business days prior to the event. There is no payment refund on orders canceled within five (5) business days of the event.

Design/Tasting

Design/Tasting appointments are held for most, but not all, cake orders. There is a non-refundable $60.00 TASTING FEE required for appointments, payable by credit card. Our tastings include a variety of cakes to sample. If the order is placed within 5 business days the $60.00 tasting fee is applied toward the order and the final cost of your cake. If you should need to reschedule, or cancel, we ask that you contact us no later than 1 week in advance. In the event that an appointment is missed or cancelled less than 1 week before the appointment your $60.00 credit card charge will not be refunded. Event dates are held for you through the date of your appointment or quote, and five (5) business days afterward. If we do not receive a signed contract and 50% deposit within five (5) business days of your appointment or quote, your date may become unavailable.

What Are Your Hours?

Since we do not have a retail shop we don’t have set hours. We work strictly “by appointment” basis.

Do You Deliver?

Delivery is available for wedding cakes and cakes that require on-site assembly. Delivery within 60 miles of U.S. zip code 34232 is FREE!

Anything over 60 miles cost $2.50 per mile. (That's one-way... we don't charge you twice for our return home). For example, if you are 75 miles from us, your delivery would cost $37.50. If you are 130 miles from us, your delivery would cost $175.  If your delivery location is out of state of Florida, you do not pay sales tax on the cake and delivery charge. Delivery fees are calculated by distance traveled divided by the time it takes to make the trip and is roughly $150 an hour. For instance, 60 miles x $2.50 = $150 divided by the hour it takes to drive at 60MPH. Anything longer than 5 hours is determined on a case-by-case basis.

Please note: "Delivery" is Center Ring Cakes® driving your cake to your event.  "Delivery" also means that we will set up your cake in its final presentation area as long as that area is ready when we arrive (table in place, table covering on). We do not charge an additional "set up" fee.

We will need a specific delivery time and a contact person at the destination for ALL cake orders; furthermore, this information MUST be provided to us at least 2 weeks before the delivery date. While it is generally not a problem for clients to transport smaller cakes, self-transporting any cake is at your own risk. Center Ring Cakes® does not recommend clients self-transport 3D/sculptural cakes, cakes over 2 tiers tall or any cake more than 3 hours and is not responsible for any damage that may occur to any client-transported cake once it has left our cake studio.

Do You Ship Your Cakes?

YES! We do ship some of our cakes…Call For Details!!!

How Far In Advance Should I Reserve My Date?

Remember, it’s never too early to reserve your date, but it could be too late! We are often booked months ahead of time, so the sooner you reserve your place on our calendar, the better. We require a minimum of one month but for weddings we suggest a minimum of three months to one year. Please contact us to discuss our availability.

Can I Visit Your Shop?

Our cake studio is open by appointment only and unfortunately, we don't offer tours or have the resources to handle visitors here. We are a very small, very busy working bakery and we are not a retail store or have any pre-made cakes for sale. Every cake we make is handcrafted to order, and while that makes for some really spectacular cakes, it doesn't leave us with time for visitors. So we can't have people stopping in to watch. The process of making each custom cake, designed from scratch, start to finish, and completing every detail before it is time for delivery keeps us extremely busy. There are also Florida State Health Department rules against such public visits into a commercial kitchen. We do have a consultation room for design/tasting clients and if you wish to set-up an appointment, we'll be more than happy to visit with you.

Do Your Cakes Actually Taste as Good as they Look?

It cracks us up to even have to answer this, but yes, they do. We are huge fans of using the best natural ingredients we can find. No artificial flavorings or preservatives here. At Center Ring Cakes®, all of our cakes are made fresh to order with real all natural milk, butter, flour, sugar and eggs! Oh! And yes, there are almonds in our almond cake - and strawberries in our strawberry cake, and bananas in our banana cake, and carrots in our carrot cake, and... But you don’t have to take our word for it – You can read for yourself and see what our happy clients are saying on our TESTIMONIALS page! For this reason, we encourage you to schedule a Tasting/Design Appointment and find out for yourself.
